Press Release from Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
18 May 2021
An auction house has partnered up with a local health trust to boost its charitable funds as a way of saying thank you for the effort of staff over the past twelve months.
Featonby’s auction house, based in North Shields, contacted Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust when lead auctioneer Mark Lane decided he wanted to give something back to those who had tirelessly served communities throughout the pandemic.
The online auction is set to take place on Saturday 19 June at 12 noon, and you can register your interest by following this link.
Generously, Featonby’s has confirmed that 100% of proceeds on the day will go to Northumbria Healthcare’s trust charity, Bright. This move will hopefully see thousands raised that can be invested directly back into patient care.
Northumbria Healthcare provides care to more than 500,000 people across North Tyneside and Northumberland. The trust’s Bright charity adds the extras that make a difference to our patients every day.
But it won’t be possible without the support of the local communities, as the team appeal for donations of unwanted items. They are also appealing for ‘experience’ vouchers from local businesses too, as well as new electrical items. If you would like to donate, you can find out further details and book your slot here.
Brenda Longstaff, Head of Bright Charity at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said: “This is such an exciting event and we are thrilled to be a part of it. Not only will it lift the spirits of local communities and staff alike, but it will hopefully raise money for our Bright charity which can be used to improve the wellbeing of both staff and patients after such a challenging year. I will definitely be tuning in on the day – I hope you will all join us too!”
Mark Lane, Lead Auctioneer said: “This is the first charity auction that Featonby’s have hosted and we’re all really excited to be able to say thank you to the NHS in this unique way. We are confident there will be lots of great items to bid for donated by local businesses and the general public. We’re asking as many people as possible to get involved either by donating an item, bidding for a lot and spreading the word of this fun and exciting event.”
Bright funds those things that the NHS does not, including better facilities for patients and their families and support for our staff allowing them to provide the best care that you need.
Some examples are:
- Supporting staff health and wellbeing
- Enhancing the patient experience through additional therapies, services and comforts
- Helping to improve the hospital environment
- Providing state of the art medical equipment
- Investing in staff training and research to improve treatments and care
- Supporting projects in our community to improve health and wellbeing
