Drawings

Drawing is a two dimensional form of art that can be completed using various tools including pencils, ink, paper, cardboard, plastic, leather, canvas and much more. The art form of drawing has somewhat changed over the years with the 21st century introducing technological drawing that can be completed on a tablet or pc. Despite this, drawing remains one of the earliest creative activities. In fact it dates back to a time when written language was not developed and so drawings were used to communicate instead.

Drawing became particularly popular during the 14th century when paper became readily available. The renaissance brought drawing to the forefront as it was used to depict realistic forms, geometry and philosophy. Drawing is often portrayed as an intermediate form of art despite the likes of da Vinci, Michelangelo, van Gough and Picasso all being talented draughtsmen. The reason behind this thinking is that drawing is often used as a beginning step for perfecting a painting

Drawing is a less used form of art these days particularly with the development of photography. Regardless of this collectable drawings still sell for huge prices at auction.
