At Featonby’s, we want to make buying antiques for sale at our auction house as easy and straightforward as possible. Simply register with us before buying by completing one of our yellow forms – available from the office – and you’re ready to start winning bids. You can also register with us online – giving you the chance to place advanced bids from anywhere on any lots available at our local auctions.

When are our auctions?
Featonby’s hold weekly auctions every Thursday at 10am, selling modern furnishings, antique furniture, paintings, pottery, fine art, jewellery, collectible items, utilities and much more – including items from local house clearances around Newcastle.
Viewings are available on Wednesdays from 11am – 5pm, where we invite everyone to come and view lots in our spacious auction rooms before attending the auction, online or in person. This gives you the perfect opportunity to review an item up close and see whether or not you are interested in buying it.
You can also preview a selection of our top items for sale online, 24 hours a day from Tuesday to Thursday – giving you a convenient way to scope out what’s on offer at our auction house in the North East each week. Simply head to ‘This Week’s Lots’ to see which items are up for sale.
Attending an auction
Striving to make the buying process as straightforward and convenient for our customers as possible, we have multiple ways to bid at one of our auctions – so you can choose the method that best suits you.
If you are buying items for sale at Featonby’s, please be aware that all bought goods are subject to buyer’s commission, which is charged at a rate of 20% of Hammer Price plus VAT. (As of 25th March 2021)
In addition, we ask that any goods bought at one of our live local auctions must be removed from the saleroom as soon as possible, in conjunction with the conditions of the sale.
When signing up to bid with our auction house you must follow the terms and conditions surrounding. All items must be paid for by 5pm the Monday following the sale. If this payment isn’t made the sale will be cancelled and this could cause problems when bidding in the future. Collection must also be made by this point otherwise a £5 storage charge will be added onto each lot you are successful with at auction. If there are any problems this must be communicated with the auction house by the following Monday.
